GVT- Vocational Training Centre, Dahod
GVT Vocational Training Centre is being established by Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) under Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana (Chief Minister’s Ten Point Program), Tribal Development Department - D-SAG, Government of Gujarat under technical support of giz-IS (German Technical Corporation – International Services) to train tribal youth on construction sector related trades.
GVT-VTC acts as a center of excellence for skill development and will be a growth engine for enhancing sustainable livelihood of youth. The core objective of the training is to improve skill and enhance sustainable income level through demand based training programs. It will also bridge the gap between demand and supply of skilled workforce in Construction Sector and will develop Livelihoods and Entrepreneurial skills linked with time tested, innovative and effective business models.
GVT-VTC is established to train 6660 tribal youths of Gujarat State in a span of 10 years in various trades related to construction sector. The proposed trades to be operated at VTC are - Mason, Tiles and Marble Fitter, Scaffolding and Form Work Technician, Bar Bender and Steel Fixer, Carpenter, Painter, Plumber, Works Supervisor, Work Assistant, Road Layer and Concrete & Pavers Block Maker.
GVT-VTC has been established at one of the most backward district of India viz. Dahod where tribal population is more than 72% and two third of labor involved in construction industry of Gujarat belongs to this area. Hence, this GVT-VTC will enhance marketable skills among tribal rural community; reduce vulnerabilities against market forces and induce economic growth at household levels for sustainable livelihoods.
