Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)

  • Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) , Godda is established at Sub- divisional  Agriculture farm near Rautara chowk by ICAR, New Delhi  in the year 2006. KVK is managed by Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT) Regional Head Quarter East located at Ranchi. The KVK is the grassroots level technology transfer and vocational training institutions designed for bringing the gap between the available technologies at one end and application for increased production on the other with the following objectives:
  • Accelerating agricultural and allied production through acquisition of vocational skill application of appropriate technologies and inputs should be the prime goal.
  • “Teaching by doing” and “Learning by doing” and “Work-experience” are the main principles for imparting skill training.
  • The emphasis is one improving the socio-economic conditions of weaker sections of the society by generating income oriented self employment opportunities to make them economically self-reliant.

For the farming community KVKs has organized various types of training, kishan mela , field days, and exhibition for rural clients and on other hand it is also facilitated by Govt. for technology assessment, refinement and its dissemination to suit the location specific requirement of the practicing farmers. During the financial year 2007-08 we have achieved following activities for benefit of the Farmers, Women and Rural youth of the Godda district.Certain highlights of the KVK :

  • Total 925 Extension Activities have been carried out where 2915 participants have attended.
  • 195 quintals of seed materials (cereals, oilseeds and pulses) produced and 72000 seedlings (vegetables) prepared.
  • 812 quintals of seed produced at Farmer’s Field
  • 37 literatures have been developed and published
  • Training: 105 Training Programmes have been conducted. Total 5289 participants have attended the training programmes. Out of 5289 participants, 621 were SC, 523 were ST and rest others.
